This article is a condensed version of the Apple Account Help Article "Transfer the Account Holder role".

Initiating the transfer

The Account Holder of an organization’s membership can transfer the Account Holder role to another employee on the team who has the legal authority to bind your organization to legal agreements.

To initiate the transfer of your Account Holder role to someone else on your development team, sign in to your account on the Apple Developer website and follow these steps.

  1. Sign in to your developer account and click “Membership details” in the top navigation.

  2. At the bottom of the section, click “Update your information.”

  3. In the dialog that appears, click “Transfer Account Holder role,” then click “Choose a candidate.”

  4. Select an eligible team member from the drop-down menu and click Transfer.

  5. Read the Account Holder Transferor Agreement, then click Agree to agree to the terms.

The person you’ve selected to be the new Account Holder will receive an email with instructions on how to complete the process.

Accepting the Account Holder role

You’ll need to verify your identity using the Apple Developer app before accepting the Account Holder role if your country or region can perform ID verification.

After you verify your identity in the app, you can sign in to your account on the Apple Developer website to accept the Account Holder role.

Next steps

After accepting the transfer it can take up to two weeks for Apple to confirm and approve the actual transfer. Once the Account Holder transfer process is complete, an email will be sent to the Admins on the team notifying them that the Account Holder for the team has changed. The new Account Holder will assume the responsibilities of accepting all legal agreements and contracts, managing app submissions, and renewing the teamʼs membership.
