Send Notification Module - Sending Customized Push Notifications in BO

Updated over 7 months ago

As an administrator, you can send push notifications to your members, allowing you to inform them of upcoming events, important announcements, or updates related to reward systems. These notifications ensure that your members stay informed about key information that may impact their experience.

Send Notification based On Member Selection:

Go to the Send Notification module from the admin panel to perform this. You have four options to select who should receive the notification.

  1. First, you can send it to everyone who is a registered member.

  2. Second, you can send it to a particular group. You can select the name of the group from the drop-down menu.

  3. Third, you can select members based on the membership cards assigned to them. You can select multiple cards to send notifications. For example, you may want to send notifications to “Gold” membership card holders or “Silver”.

  4. Fourth, if you wish to send notifications to selected members only, you can do that too.

  5. Lastly, this opens up the option to filter Selected Recipients. Send notifications based on the dynamic data field classifications. Select the available filters in the dynamic data field and check the number of recipients receiving the push notification.

Also,

You can combine all of these options be it a gold membership card holder a specific group of people or any specific member to create a holistic list of members who will receive the notification.

However, please note that if you select the "Send to Everyone" option, the previously specified list of targeted members will be lost, and you will need to re-enter the targeted members.

Send Notification based on Recipient Geo Location:

You can also enable geo-targeted notifications based on members' locations. Simply enter the desired location in the search bar to target members in specific areas

Upon entering the name of the location, the application fetches the longitude and latitude of the location available as per the data available in Google Maps.

To further locate the location more precisely, you can drag the cursor manually and move it to the location. The longitude and latitude of the locations in the fields will be adjusted accordingly.

Next, you can enter the radius proximity within which the member might be located. For precise targeting, it is worth highlighting the time frame during which the member might be located in the described location.

For example, if you select the time frame as 1 hour, then the notification will be sent to members present in the area in the past hour. This is because the data that we store is the latest geo-location updated by the member. This is why, the user should be present at the location in the timeframe mentioned for you to be able to send messages.

In the header section, enter the notification title and the main content for the body of the message.

We have a limit set for the header and body part of the notification. The header has a limit of 50 characters, and the body part has a limit of 127 characters. This is to comply with the notification limits for Android and iOS apps and let the notification be visible nicely on the app screen.

You can also add emojis in the header to make the notification visually appealing.

We have decided on this limit, keeping in mind the character limits for each platform. Please refer to the character limitation table below.

Specify the event or page to which members will be redirected when they tap the notification.

Depending on your planning and requirements, you can schedule the notification for a future date or send it immediately. If you wish to schedule a notification for a future date, select the date and time.

The notification will then automatically appear on the list of notifications. However, you can unsend it or change the date by pressing the delete option. Once deleted, you can create a new notification again.

If you choose to delete a notification that has already been sent, it will also be deleted from the app's notification list.

Scheduled & Past Notifications

The scheduled and past notifications contain detailed information about the notifications sent. Click the "Recipients" button to see which members received a specific notification. Then, use the "Details" option to review information about the targeted groups, selected members, and associated card themes for each notification.

Notifications can be removed from the list, which also unsends them from both the notifications list and the app interface. Sent notifications can also be updated, and any changes can be made which will automatically be reflected on the app for users.

Further, you can view the list of notifications sent to individual members by clicking on the individual member's information page!

Edit a Sent/Scheduled Notification:

We have also now introduced a functionality that allows you to edit an already-sent notification. However, on the app side, the edits made to an already sent notification will not be notified. Members can only view the changes when they open the notification.

How does Notification Look on a Member's Screen?

The notification initiated from here is visible on the member’s screen as shown below.

The red dot means that the given notification is unread and is the latest in the list. If you have inserted a landing page, then, upon clicking the notification, the members will be redirected to the target page that you have set in the above fields.

Members having a collection of unread messages can click the arrow symbol beside the menu bar and mark all the notifications as read.
